Prince of Peace is a vibrant and inclusive church dedicated to serving our community, walking together in faith, and welcoming you as you are. Situated in the heart of Elk Grove Village, at the crossroads of Arlington Heights Rd and Devon Ave, we strive to embody the values of service, transformation, and love.
Together, as a church family, we extend our hands to the broader community. We partner with many organizations in the Chicagoland area, striving to live into the calling God has placed on our lives and create a more just world.
As a Reconciling Church, we celebrate and honor differences, welcoming all individuals with open arms, regardless of age, ability, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith background, family configuration, or socioeconomic status. Our community is a safe space where everyone is accepted just as they are.
Through our various ministries, worship services, small groups, and outreach initiatives, we seek to create a nurturing environment where individuals can grow spiritually and find a sense of belonging. We aim to inspire, empower, and uplift each other, spreading the message of Jesus to all.
You’re invited to join us on this incredible journey of faith and service. Together, we can make a positive impact in our personal lives, in our community, and the world at large. Our church family at Prince of Peace hopes to see you soon!
Prince of Peace United Methodist Church has a rich and inspiring history that reflects our enduring commitment to faith, service, and community. Established in 1960, our church has been a beacon of hope and a center for spiritual growth in Elk Grove Village.
The origin of our church coincided with the rapid expansion of Elk Grove Village due to the development of O'Hare Airport. On December of 1959, a small but passionate group assembled with a vision to establish a new church in the growing village. Through diligent efforts, including local paper advertisements, persistent calls, and coordinated house gatherings, our church took root with a devoted core of individuals.
On Sunday, June 19th, 1960, sixty-one members met in Ridge School to receive their charter from the Methodist Church. As the early members of our church gathered, the need for a permanent church home became apparent. On February 18th, 1968, after eight years of worshiping in Ridge School, we met for the first time in our building on the corner of Arlington Heights Rd and Devon Ave.
Our commitment to expanding our outreach and creating innovative programs and initiatives to serve the needs of our congregation and the wider community shapes Prince of Peace’s path ahead. We aim to deepen our impact, leveraging our resources and passion to make a tangible difference in the lives of those around us. We are enthusiastic about developing partnerships and collaborations that extend our reach and effectiveness.
Our vision for the future includes a continued investment in the spiritual growth of our members, encouraging exploration and deepening of faith. We will create more avenues for learning, discussion, and engagement, facilitating personal journeys of discovery and connection with God.
With a dedication to fostering a welcoming space, we are committed to providing diverse opportunities for worship, education, and fellowship. We continue to be a welcoming space for ALL people.
As we chart our course forward, our commitment to inclusivity, love, and service remains unwavering. We invite you to join us in this journey, where every individual’s unique story contributes to the vibrant tapestry of our shared future. Together, let us continue to make a meaningful and positive impact, embodying the values of kindness, understanding, and faith in all we do.
