What Can You Expect at Prince of Peace (POP) with our YOUTH Ministry?
- Confirmation class is typically held for youth in grades 6th-8th This is a three year program.
- Confirmation in the United Methodist tradition is a rite through which young Christians affirm the faith of the church, renew the vows of baptism, and commit to lives of discipleship as professing members of The United Methodist Church
- Confirmands gain a basic knowledge and understanding of the Christian story
- Youth are taught about core beliefs and practices of United Methodist Christians
- Explores the vows that they will take if they choose to be confirmed so that they understand the commitment they will be making and the expectations that come with being confirmed as a professing member of The United Methodist Church.
- Classes held every other week.
- Classes alternate between lessons and either mission projects or field trips.
- 8th graders are confirmed in May.

- and Sr. High Youth – events held throughout the year for youth in 6th grade through Senior high.
- Events typically held once or twice per month, including mission work and field trips or outings.
- Mission work includes:
- Local church events such as the Pumpkin Patch, unloading pumpkins, assisting the Children’s ministry with Vacation Bible School, Holy Ghost night and the Christmas Pageant, making meals for homebound members.
- Local community events such as Feed My Starving Children.
- National trips such as our annual mission trip which has taken us across the US, including Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Minnesota, and Michigan. Service projects include anything from Kids Club to painting and home repair, to even working on farms.
- Outings include:
- Pizza parties
- Slip n Slide kick-ball / picnics
- Bowling
- Retreats
- Visits to other temples and places of Worship
- Bishops Bus Tour – visiting various venues in the Chicago area with guest speakers
- Annual fundraiser dinner for the summer mission trip
- Dinner and entertainment
- Event run by the Youth to support their trip
