Children’s Ministry

What Can You Expect at Prince of Peace (POP) with our Children’s Ministry?

Children are welcome at POP. We follow the “Safe Sanctuary” requirement of our denomination to nurture, care, love and protect each child as children of God.

  • On Sunday, children start in the sanctuary at our 9:30am worship service and then are dismissed to Sunday school after they collect the food from the congregation for our neighbors.
  • We offer “One-Room” Sunday school for ages three to 5th
  • Every first Sunday of the month we offer Holy Communion and children are invited to receive Communion on that day.
  • We also provide Nursery Care for infants through age 3 during worship so that parents will have a meaningful worship experience.

As a church we have a responsibility to care for the children in our midst and to help them grow in God’s love and wisdom. Our call is to care, nurture and protect the children in our church. Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes such a child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me” (Mark 9:37).  Each day, we are reminded of our individual call to welcome children in our church and to love and protect them, as Jesus loves them. Our call is to make sure that every child is welcome and safe in our congregation. Jesus made it clear to the disciples that when we welcome a child we are not only welcoming that child, but we welcome Jesus himself. When we love a child we love the Lord. When we care for a child we are doing the will of God. Jesus said; “Let the little children come to me, do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. He took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them” (Mark 10:14b, 16).

God sends us to work together to make sure that every child has what she or he needs to learn and grow in a safe environment. We look forward to welcoming you and your child(ren) at our church. For questions about our Children’s Ministry you can reach the Church Office at 847-439-0668.
