Our Pastor

Pastor Robyn Michelle Tabb

Rev. Robyn M. Tabb was born to Patricia and Warren Hendon in Chicago, Illinois. Her maternal grandparents were the late Rev. Robert Thomas, Jr., and Mrs. Deressa Thomas. Many years later, Rev. Thomas went on to become a Bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Her paternal grandfather, Frank Hendon, was one of the first African American Fire Chiefs in Chicago. Robyn’s paternal grandmother, Ethel Hendon, was a librarian.

Pastor Robyn attended various Chicago Public Schools for her elementary school education. In 1981 she graduated from Kenwood Academy High School. Robyn went on to attend Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Television and Radio Management from the S. I. Newhouse School of Communications. While attending Syracuse University, Robyn was blessed to be an Exchange Student in Strasbourg, France, for one semester. Robyn feels that she first felt the call to the pastoral ministry while she was a student at Syracuse. However, she did not pursue this desire until much later in life.

Upon entering on the path toward becoming an ordained minister many years later, Robyn attended seminary. She obtained her Master of Divinity degree from The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in May of 2014.

Pastor Robyn first entered the ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in December 1999. She was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in 2003 and an Itinerant Elder in October 2014.

After being received into the Northern Illinois Conference of The United Methodist Church (UMC), Rev. Tabb served as Co-Pastor of Neighborhood United Methodist Church in Maywood, Illinois, from September 2016 through June of 2017. Then, on July 1, 2017, Rev. Tabb was appointed to become the Pastor of Resurrection United Methodist Church.

While serving as the pastor at Resurrection church, Pastor Robyn served on the Chicago Northwestern District’s Shepherding Team. This team’s purpose is to coordinate the equipping of local churches so that they might be faithful, Christ-centered communities of worship, prayer, witness and change. She also served as a clergy member of the Chicago Northwestern District’s Lay Academy.

Rev. Robyn M. Tabb is excited and blessed to be appointed as the new Pastor of Prince of Peace United Methodist Church. Rev. Tabb feels that she is called to be a servant leader. She feels blessed to be of service to God, her family, The United Methodist Church, various communities, and all of humanity. She cannot wait to see how God will use Prince of Peace United Methodist Church to be a blessing to the Elk Grove Village community, and the world!

Pastor Robyn has three sons: Maximillian (23), Marcus, Jr. (21), and Michael (18).
