Community Outreach

As part of its Mission and Outreach Prince of Peace supports the local and global community in many ways.

Prince of Peace members serve as volunteers with local community organizations such as PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Kenneth J. Young Center, and Feed My Starving Children.

As a church Prince of Peace regularly contributes to the local Elk Grove Village Food Pantry. Each Sunday, as part of learning about helping our neighbors, the children gather food bags from church attendees for the Food Pantry. Also hundreds of pounds of produce are harvested from our on-site Bob Lawson Living and Giving Garden and donated to the Food Pantry. As a result of the weekly and summer activities, Prince of Peace is one of the largest church donors to the Pantry.

Each summer Prince of Peace gathers school supplies and other necessities for local children, as part of its “Seeds to Succeed” program.

Prince of Peace contributes items each year toUMCOR relief supply kits to help provide care for the most vulnerable people during times of crisis or those who lack ready access to essential supplies.  These include health kits, layette kits, and cleaning buckets.

Prince of Peace also works with community agencies during holidays to help provide food, clothing, and Christmas gifts for those in need.

We also have been involved in assisting the Salvation Army on emergency projects.

Prince of Peace supported Imagine No Malaria, a global partnership with the goal to prevent, treat, and eliminate malaria.

Our church participates in the Northern Illinois Conference’s Rainbow Covenant.  These donations support advocacy projects, children and youth activities, and regional, national, and international projects.  These have included ChildServ, which serves at risk children and families in Cook, DuPage, and Lake Counties; Society of St. Andrew, which feeds hungry families throughout the United States; Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti; and a missionary serving Cambodia’s street children.

Prince of Peace youth participate in a mission trip each summer to locations in need throughout the United States, helping to repair and paint houses and interacting with children and elderly.
